British producer, pot smoker and fan of all things 420 – DJ Rusko is a trippy and smart dude… and when he’s high, Rusko’s pretty much good with discussing any topic. Anything and everything is on the table for debate. From his ongoing rivalry with Skirllix, to his well-known love of all things pot related. Rusko’s done kissing industry A$$. Now completely independent of the old school approach of circulating his music, he feels liberated and ready to produce some sick bass rich tunes.

A recent separation from his longtime collaborator ‘Mad Decent’ meant he needed to find a new way to release his new tracks… after thinking for a while, it struck him. What better way to distribute his new tunes than on his website. After that epiphany Ruko decide  ”That’s what I’m going to do with all my music from now on,” the British producer told the  New Times.

Rusko: … I’ve had a couple of months off touring and a couple of months in the studio, I think that a lot of musicians find when you do that, you put on a lot of weight. I’ve just been eating like a monster. I don’t have to do a show every night, and when I’m not doing crazy drugs like I do on the road, I just (makes sound) balloon out when I get home. It gets crazy. Playing shows and doing drugs is a great diet!

Since Rusko’s primary focus is getting his new music out to the public as fast as possible, this technique will allow the Dubstepper to create CD’s  in as little as  30 days or less. Rusko went on to explain, “the way the record labels work, there’s sometimes six months between finishing the record and it being released. It gets less and less exciting.” Rusko mentions that he tired of walking over the same old ground. And that this CD was going to be different imagine Dub “punk rock.”  ”There’s no need for a million remixes of the same track. I don’t need to collaborate with a million people,” Rusko noted.

New Times: I saw on your Twitter that you were making some pancakes out of things like Oreos… Rice Krispy treats and a few other odd combo’s. Is that something you’re doing?  Only when Ive smoked some really good pot. Oh, then you’re a  big fan of the weed culture. Do you actually have a medical marijuana recommendation?
