Aziz Ansari Loves Shrooms Thursday 05 April, 2012

Aziz Ansari went out to dinner with the guy who created The Man Show and Crank Yankers. Their conversation/time was documented on Grantland. It was, as anything involving Aziz is: mildly entertaining. I say mildly because while Aziz is the man, there’s only so much time you can spend reading about other people (especially when there’s a feature published about them every other day).

I’d prefer to watch entertainers entertain than read about their affection for marrow. That said, it’s impossible not to like Aziz and his bubbly persona. Aside from generally making me really damn hungry and really damn jealous that I’ve never partied with Aziz, the highlight of this  interview of sorts was the knowledge Aziz dropped about boomers. Rather than sift through the good but way way too long interview, just read this excerpt:

Aziz: Yes. I’ve done mushrooms a few times. What’s happened is I had an awesome time. [Laughs.] I did it at Bonnaroo a couple times. That music festival. I did it in Charleston, South Carolina, when I was in high school. And in Amsterdam, when I was in college, I went to the Van Gogh museum, and there was like a Gauguin exhibit, and I was walking around listening to the Beatles White Album. And it was fun. My argument has always been, you experience life through one perception your whole life. Wouldn’t it be interesting to view things through a slightly different perception? Everything you’re experiencing as a human being? Why wouldn’t you want to do that for a little while? [Grantland]

Don’t you love when really really smart people say really really smart things? Also Exhibit 1,394,284: Successful people do do drugs!
